Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor Training

Details :

This training course is for candidates who wish to become a Code for Sustainable Homes assessor. The course is three days long, with an additional exam day one month after the training course.

Course Content and Duration

Days 1 and 2 of the course is a mixture of presentations and interactive workshops. Day 3 will be based in a computer suite for interactive training on using the calculator tools and online reporting system. The Code course covers:

  • a brief introduction to sustainable construction
  • meeting environmental needs with the Code
  • the technical content of the Code for Sustainable Homes assessment method
  • the assessment process and support structures in place for the scheme and assessors

The fee includes:

  • All course material and the Code for Sustainable Homes Technical Guidance.
  • Exam
  • Lunch and refreshments.
  • CPD certificate of attendance.

Who is this course aimed at?

Our training courses are designed to be suitable for all delegates, regardless of professional background or qualifications. However, the neccessary skills to become an assessor are: 

  • Capable of interpreting technical information
  • Capable of understanding building design drawings
  • Good communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel

Examination to be Qualified

Please note that if you are wishing to become a qualified and licensed Code for Sustainable Homes assessor you will require certification against the Competent Persons Scheme. This requires you to undertake an examination, pass, and then apply for Certification with the BREEAM Office. Please note that it is a requirement that once qualified your organisation must hold a BREEAM licence agreement in order to carry out Code for Sustainable Homes assessments.

Those interested in

  • designing or specifying buildings for low environmental impact
  • delivering Code for Sustainable Homes environmental assessments, and
  • satisfying professional CPD requirements and gaining a recognised qualification at the same time. 

Please note: This scheme uses calculation tools which run in MS Excel with macros. Macintosh computers are unable to use this function and you will need access to a PC to complete assessments.
