BREEAM Communities Training Course

3 Day BREEAM Assessor Training Course

13 - 15 December 2010 - BRE Global, Watford

Details :

BREEAM Communities is targeted at assessing the overall sustainability of a proposed project at the planning stage of the development control process. The new BREEAM scheme, as part of the broader Sustainable Development Framework, provides direct certification of the agreed site-wide development commitments made by a developer and a local planning authority, as outlined within one of the current Regional Sustainability Checklists. This 3 day course will be based on a combination of presentations and interactive workshops.

The Course is suited to anybody interested or actively involved in the delivery of sustainable communities. Delegates do not have to have an urban design background or have undertaken any prior BREEAM training.

Programme :

Day 1-3

  • an introduction to BREEAM Communities
  • the links between Planning / Sustainability Checklists / BREEAM Communities
  • meeting key sustainability objectives with BREEAM Communities
  • meeting key planning requirements with BREEAM Communities
  • An introduction to the assessment tools
  • the technical aspects of BREEAM Communities
  • the assessors role
  • the assessment process and support structures in place for the scheme and assessors

Examination & Test Assessment - Please note that all those wishing to undertake BREEAM Communities assessments are required to achieve certification against the Competent Persons Scheme, this is provided by BRE Global. For certification you are required to undertake an exam taken under controlled classroom conditions at the end of Day 3.

Unlike other BREEAM schemes, THERE IS NO BREEAM COMMUNITIES TEST ASSESSMENT. Delegates who have undertaken the training and who have passed the exam who are then undertaking BREEAM Communities Assessments will have their first two full submissions to BRE assessed.

An application form for Certification against the Competent Persons Scheme is then completed after you have successfully passed these two assessments.
