Getting a building BREEAM assessed

BREEAM assessments are carried out by BRE’s licensed assessor network.

There are two routes for certification:

• Standard BREEAM versions 
• Bespoke BREEAM certification; for less common building types.

Within each version there are different assessments that can be carried out to suit your development. The main types are:

Design and procurement
Carried out at the design stage, for new build or refurbishment projects.

Post construction
A review of the design stage assessment at the post construction stage ensuring all BREEAM issues specified are implemented.

Management and operation
Assessment for existing buildings carried out whilst they are operational. Considers policies and procedures in addition to existing building and fabric layout.
